Assessment
Using evidence-based assessment practices and standardised psychometric tests, we offer:
- evaluation of child and adolescent intellectual and academic functioning,
- assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum (ASD) and attention deficit / hyperactivity (ADHD) in children and young people.
Firearms Health Safety Risk Assessment
New South Wales takes firearms risk very seriously - the goal is to keep people safe.
Some people may be required to obtain assessments due to previous experiences, or risk factors that have been identified through data collection.
While mental health conditions do not automatically indicate risk to self or others, some mental health conditions, previous self harm, suicidality, and violence reflect a higher statistical probability of risk which benefits from closer consideration.
Yellow Psychology provides child and adolescent psychological and psychoeducational evaluations to understand an individual's unique cognitive, academic and emotional functioning.
Psychological assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder, intellectual developmental disorder, and specific learning disorders is available.
Through a nurturing and supportive approach, grounded in empathy and understanding, we specialise in providing evidence based trauma-focused intervention and family focused therapy.
NSW Firearms Health Risk Assessments involve a clinical interview, and additional psychometric assessments as required. A comprehensive psychological report is then provided to the Firearms Registry - this assessment process can be completed in clinic or, if appropriate, online.
Meet Emerson Nottingham, Founder and Principal Psychologist
Welcome! I'm Emerson, a Registered Psychologist with a special interest in complex developmental trauma, neurodevelopmental psychology, and veteran mental health.
I am based in the New South Wales Outback region and am available to deliver psychological services locally in person, and online anywhere in Australia. I operate with sensitivity to diversity and aim to provide equitable and effective mental health care for all. I have training and experience in neurodevelopmental and psychoeducational assessment, cognitive behavioural therapy and specialised child and adolescent trauma focused therapy (TF-CBT).
My interest in psychological practice stems from my own lived experience of childhood adversity, complex trauma and family violence, as well as my previous work with the Australian Regular Army and QLD Police Service. I am passionate about helping people get through the hard parts so they can move forward and reach their true potential. My practice name 'Yellow Psychology' comes from this idea - yellow is the colour of hope, positivity, and new beginnings. I truly believe that we all deserve that; regardless of where we have come from, or how bad things have been, we're all worthy of a fresh start. Sometimes we need a minute to reset, to find out why we are stuck, or to get a hand with moving forward- that's ok, that's why I'm here.
