Individual Therapy
Seeing a psychologist is about bettering yourself with the use of expert support and the latest science.
We are all a unique combination of biology and experience - the things we were born with and the things that happen to us along the way. Understanding the individual that is you, taking a collaborative approach to treatment planning and delivering compassionate therapy without judgement is what we do.
We only utilise science backed assessment tools and evidence-based interventions that are known to work. These first line, or 'gold standard' interventions are delivered by an appropriately qualified and registered psychologist either online or in person.

Family Focused Therapies
Parenting is challenging! Parenting therapy aims to bridge the gap between knowledge and doing.
There are a number of evidence-based therapies designed to create happier, secure and more balanced homes.
Functional family therapy aims to improve family dynamics with a focus on communication, problem solving, establishing roles and boundaries and emotional responses - the goal is to create a secure and supportive environment in which all family members can thrive.
Parenting therapy aims to give parents more strategies for managing challenging behaviour, and improving parent-child relationships.

Couples Therapy
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is an evidence-based intervention for distressed couples. The goal is to move couples from negative patterns of interaction to openness and intimacy.
EFT is based on adult attachment - reactive emotion stemming from attachment distress can be fast moving, challenging to contain and can keep couples stuck in negative patterns. Accessing and sharing vulnerabilities, a key to creating healthy attachment, can be challenging - this is where EFT can help couples create deeper bonds and bring distressed couples back together.
Bulk Billing Psychology
for women & young people
There are a limited number of sessions available each week for women and young people who are experiencing, or have experienced family violence.
Please don't struggle in isolation.
If you are experiencing family violence in any form, you may find yourself feeling distressed and alone. You may be struggling under a whole range of big emotions, including feeling sad or anxious. You might be having sleep related challenges where it's either difficult to get to sleep, or find yourself lying awake at 3am. You might be coping in ways that are actually causing you harm, that extra drink for example, just to 'take the edge off'. Some people might self harm, gamble, engage is excessive spending or substance use. These are all what psychologists call maladaptive coping mechanisms, they are the ways you have found to cope on your own, they are the things you do to survive; there is no judgment when you come to therapy.
You know you deserve better, but you feel lost, alone and have no idea where to start.
Family and domestic violence is destabilising; it can significantly impact your life, leaves you feeling confused and believing there is no way out. If there are children involved, domestic violence can interfere with their education and life outcomes.
Often after a separation, you might find yourself struggling as you navigate Family Court procedures. Where there is a power imbalance due to finances, this can be incredibly distressing for both yourself and any children involved. While therapy cannot resolve any legal issues, it can provide you with ways to cope and heal from the complex trauma associated with domestic violence.
Isolation is often associated with domestic violence. You may have been completely cut off from friends or other family, your access to employment may have been controlled, maybe you are not allowed to leave the house alone. You may feel like there is no one you can talk to.
This is what to do:
1. Visit your GP and request a referral to a psychologist under the Medicare Better Access initiative. This initiative is Australia wide, you can access help from anywhere. If you are unable to leave your home alone, you can access a GP for the referral online.
For women and young people experiencing family violence, I accept the bulk billing rebate and I do not charge any out of pocket expenses. However, I can only provide a limited number of bulk billed appointments each week.
2. Make an appointment.
Email hello@yellowpsychology.com.au for available times.
3. Your sessions will be provided through telehealth. I use the Coviu platform - you simply click on the emailed link to access your session. You do not need to download any software or install anything to your device. Please be aware you will need to have access to data to do this.
4. In your first session, you will be provided with information about the service being provided to you and guided through the privacy, confidentiality and informed consent requirements. You can then make a decision whether therapy is right for you; we will create a therapeutic plan together, and set up your regular appointments for the remaining sessions.
If you would like more information, are worried about privacy, or would like to check availability first, please reach out.
