Psychological Assessment

Psychological assessment services are now based in Mildura and surrounds. Yellow Psychology is conveniently available on weekends and during school holiday periods for face to face appointments to avoid missing school or work. 

Additional appointments for some assessments are available via telehealth during the week. 

Cognitive and Behavioural Assessment

Emerson Nottingham is an experienced teacher and registered psychologist with a special interest in complex trauma. Emerson has a master's degree in Education (Educational Psychology), a master's degree in Psychological Practice (School Psychology) and is a current PhD student at the University of New South Wales researching the effects of complex trauma on learning. 
 

Emerson is available for face to face assessments in the Mildura region during the NSW school term. School holiday clinics may be arranged on a needs basis in smaller regional areas, please contact us for more information.

Emerson is experienced in providing:

- Cognitive and academic achievement testing using evidence based assessment procedures and standardised psychometric tools such the Wechsler Intelligence Scales and Wechsler Individual Achievement Test. Assessment is suitable for pre-k/pre-prep through to adulthood and aims to identify an individuals strengths and weaknesses. Cognitive and academic achievement assessment is most often used identify an intellectual developmental disorder (IDD; intellectual disability) or Specific Learning Disorder, and can be an important step in seeking community or educational supports. 

- Adaptive assessment - where there is a need to measure an individual's functioning in daily life compared to peers. Adaptive assessment is required when assessing for an intellectual developmental disorder, but is also useful in other circumstances and may be requested by a psychiatrist or paediatrician for several reasons. 

- Behavioural assessment - with a focus on identifying the root cause of behaviours in children and adolescents, such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), oppositional defiance disorder or conduct disorder.

All assessments commence with an initial consultation to understand your concerns, record developmental history, discuss any previous assessment, design the assessment in accordance with presenting concerns and explain the reporting process. This appointment may take 1 - 1.5 hours, the cost of this is $275. The initial consultation can be completed via telehealth.
